MEET Erin
Thoughtful Leadership
I was born and raised in Henderson, NV and attended college at BYU-Idaho. I majored in Communications and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper. My husband and I moved to Moab after college. I wrote a few news articles for the local papers in Moab and also worked as a dental assistant. We moved to Murray, Utah living in a lovely neighborhood for 6 years until moving to West Jordan where we've lived for almost 4 years.
I'm a parent of 2 school aged children and I love volunteering and being part of their classroom and school.
I served as PTA president-elect & president of Riverside Elementary from 2022-2024 and loved organizing volunteers, planning events and interacting with parents and teachers. I joined the PTA for my children but now I do it for all the children at Riverside. I want to create a safe, fun and educational atmosphere for every student, parent and teacher.
I'm also employed by the City of West Jordan as a crossing guard, which is very rewarding and strengthens a feeling of community for me.
When I have free time I love being with my family, hanging out with friends and hiking with our dog. I also enjoy painting, puzzles and a good cup of tea.
I decided to run for Jordan School Board because I am passionate about education. I had been approached by O2Utah to run for a seat on the Utah Legislature in late 2023. After discussion I realized that Legislature was too big of a responsibility for me and my family to take on at this stage of life.
After hearing about the open seat for Jordan School Board I immediately felt that was something I could dive into and be passionate about. Just as I participate in PTA for all the children of my local Elementary school, I'm running for Jordan School Board for the benefit of all children in JSD.
I firmly believe:
- Every child should have an equal opportunity to learn and achieve their best selves.
- Every teacher should feel appreciated and supported as they educate our future generations.
- Every school employee should feel appreciated as they contribute to an atmosphere that helps children feel safe.
- Every parent, circumstances permitting, should take an interest in their child's education.
If elected, I look forward to serving the families and teachers of JSD and will strive to educate myself on issues, have open communication with teachers and parents and fight for positive support of our schools.
